On 27 January, our delegation led by Mr. Stanley Au Chong-kit, president of the Association, paid a visit to the Office of the Secretary for Economy and Finance. We were warmly welcomed by Mr. Lei Wai Nong, Secretary for Economy and Finance of MSAR government. The meeting assessed the recent epidemic influence on macao economy development and urged the Secretary adopt quick and effective stimulus strategies to rescue tottering SMEs. Our Association also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MSAR for their altruistic contribution in fighting against the disease and stabilizing the situation.
Mr Stanley Au suggested that the MSAR government should establish production line for medical supplies to strengthen our public health system and formulate “gap year” policy for secondary school graduate to assist them in developing their career planning.
In reply to enquiries of our representatives, Mr. Lei addressed that the society needs to be confident that the government will try best to bring the epidemic under control. At the same time, the government is introducing various supportive measures to improve the business environment and support SME operation in a fair, equitable, organized and focused manner. The government will focus on promoting industrial diversification in the future to release vibrancy and enhance tenacity of our economy.
